Our Standards

At Saccade, we take pride in having some of the most stringent quality standards in the industry for our clients’ SR&ED claims.

We evaluate the quality of our reports using two primary measures:

1.  Level of Detail and Specificity
This is the most critical quality in a SR&ED Technical Report and we strive to ensure that all of our arguments contain (what we internally define as) a ‘Tertiary Level of Detail’ – illustrated by example below.

Example:

Description at a Primary Level of Detail:

We conducted several trials to get the machine to work properly.

Description at a Secondary Level of Detail:

We conducted 6 trials to improve machine cycle time.

Description at a Tertiary Level of Detail:

We developed and tested 6 different material handling technologies to    determine which would improve the cycle time from 10 parts per minute to 20 parts per minute while still maintaining part tolerances of +/-0.003”.

2.  Precision
Precision means that all of the content that we include in the reports serves solely to establish that the legislative basis has been met. This is defined by the essential communication points required by each section of the report for a given project:

Technological Advancement
This section must communicate that the work undertaken sought to improve the existing capabilities of the company’s products or processes in a manner which required deviation from standard models of prediction/standard engineering practices.   Nothing more, nothing less.

Technological Obstacles
This section must communicate that, in trying to achieve the Technological Advancement, the team encountered problems that could only be resolved through experimentation.  Nothing more, nothing less.

Experimental Work
This section must present a chronology of the work undertaken, including the relevant hypotheses motivating each trial and the results of each attempt/trial.  Nothing more, nothing less.
